This story will break your heart.... This handsome boy is Telly. Telly was scheduled to be put to sleep at the shelter because he is older (as if 8 years old is very old when cats can live into their 20's...) and he had rotten teeth. He had stopped grooming himself since his mouth hurt so badly. We found out about Telly and rescued him. We had a dental done on him and they pulled all but his 4 canine teeth. He's currently recouping in foster care. After a few nights at his new foster home, his foster mom let him out of the cage. He's very good with the other cats in the room even though they are young and very active. Then a wonderful thing happened... Telly (named for the muppet from Sesame Street), found a toy mouse that squeaks everytime it's touched. You would have thought that Telly was a kitten again. He was leaping and playing, throwing the toy mouse in the air. It put tears in his foster mom's eyes. What a good rescue.... Telly is super affectionate and is not shy in the least. Even though he hates his medicine with a passion, he wouldn't dream of trying to bite or scratch. Right now he's on a completely wet food diet but in a few weeks he will also be able to eat dry food again. We think he will be available for adoption mid to late September when his mouth is fully healed. If you would like to adopt this loveable, wonderful boy you can pre-adopt him currently.
