Stashy (black and white) - named for his little mustache - and his brother, Squeaky (gray and white) - were friendly strays being cared for outdoors by a kind homeowner until there was a spot in rescue for them.
They are the sweetest cats and LOVE other cats!
Special Needs:
Stashy was treated for an eye infection. His third eyelid is still showing, but the vet said no further treatment is necessary.
He and his brother also had what is called "pillow foot", which is an immune condition where the foot pads get inflamed by an infiltration of plasma cells. When taken into rescue in August 2023, they were treated with the recommended course of medication (which was affordable) and have been fine ever since. Their pads may always look deflated or saggy, but that shouldn't bother them unless they crack and bleed which Stashy's never did. The condition may or may not reoccur.
Stashy has had all his teeth extracted as of April 2024, and is on prednisone as he heals. We will recheck his gums at the beginning of May and see if he can be tapered off the prednisone. We hope his recent dental surgery was the solution and that he will not have any further gum issues. Many cats have no teeth and fare just fine. He still prefers dry food, though he is always offered wet food too.
Sweet and Gentle: He is the sweetest and gentlest cat! Still timid, he has made great progress in his foster home. He will come over to be petted and rub against my legs. He loves being petted. You'll know that he is really enjoying it not only by his purring, but he will also drop to the ground and rub his back foot on his chin! It's so cute when he does this.
Snuggly: He is so easy to pick up and handle when needed, like for medications. He is so easy to give meds to, whether liquid, pills or eye drops. He will also stay on my lap and cuddle if I put him there. As he heals from his dental surgery, he has started wanting to stay on my lap longer! He even interacted with my Great Dane!
Good with Dogs: He is getting to know the Great Dane in his foster home. We think he will be good with any dogs who are respectful of cats, once he has had a proper introduction and a chance to acclimate.
Good with Kids: Though he hasn't been around young kids, he should be good because he is so gentle and sweet.
LOVES Other Cats: We would love for him and Squeaky to be adopted together, but they can be adopted separately since they also love other cats. Both boys have LOVED all the other foster cats that have been in the room and will rub against them.
We'd love to see Stashy go to a home with another friendly cat, or adopted with one, such as his brother, Squeaky.
Fully Vetted: He has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed/flea treated, tested NEGATIVE for FIV/FelV, and is even microchipped.
Adopt Stashy: Stashy will need a special adopter who understands his shy, gentle nature. As with any cat, the adopter should be willing to treat any medical conditions that can occur.
In return, he will show you how sweet and grateful he is for your love.
